The healing art of Thai massage is an ancient and sacred system of healing with roots in yoga, ayurvedic medecine and Buddhist meditation. This form of bodywork is usually performed on a floor mat, and the client wears comfortable clothes that allow for movement. No oils are used in Thai massage. It is known in Thailand as Nuad Phaen Boran, literally, the ancient-manner massage.
This technique has been described as assisted Hatha Yoga, because the therapist uses his or her hands, knees, legs and feet to move the recipient into a series of yoga-like stretches. Muscle compression, joint mobilization and acupressure are also used during the treatment. This unique type of bodywork influences the energic side as well, restoring the flow of energy throughout the body with applied palming and thumbing on the sen energy lines of the body.
